Miguel Andujar Sitting down Saturday
Sat, Apr 5, 2025, 3:55 PM
Andujar isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: Andujar is 4-for-12 with a run scored during his brief three-game hitting streak, but the Athletics will give him a breather Saturday. Seth Brown will fill the void in left field and bat seventh.
Gio Urshela
Gio Urshela Resting Saturday
Sat, Apr 5, 2025, 3:53 PM
Urshela is out of the lineup for Saturday's game versus Colorado.
Analysis: Urshela is just 3-for-23 through seven games into the season, and the A's will now give him a day to rest while Max Schuemann picks up a start at the hot corner and bats ninth.
Max Muncy
Max Muncy Out of Saturday's lineup
Sat, Apr 5, 2025, 3:50 PM
Muncy isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: Muncy will take a day to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-10 with four strikeouts since the start of April. Luis Urias will get the nod at second base instead and bat eighth.
Brett Harris
Brett Harris Activated, optioned to Triple-A
Thu, Apr 3, 2025, 12:32 PM
The Athletics reinstated Harris (oblique) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Analysis: Harris landed on the injured list ahead of the season due to a strained left oblique that's been bothering him since the start of March. He began playing in rehab games at Las Vegas on Sunday, going 3-for-9 with two RBI and two stolen bases, and he'll officially remain in the minors now that he's fully healthy.
Jeffrey Springs
Jeffrey Springs Gives up four runs in loss
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 8:35 PM
Springs (1-1) took the loss against the Cubs on Wednesday. He gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out three across three innings.
Analysis: Springs started out strong with two first-inning strikeouts, but things unravelled in the second frame when he gave up four runs, three of which came from a Seiya Suzuki home run. Springs gave up a fifth run in the third inning (though it was unearned), and his day was done at the conclusion of the frame after tossing 82 pitches (50 strikes). The 32-year-old southpaw will look to get back in the win column in his next start, and he's lined up to face the Padres next week at home.
Jacob Wilson
Jacob Wilson Extends hitting streak to seven
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 8:24 PM
Wilson went 3-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Cubs.
Analysis: Wilson was responsible for three of the Athletics' five hits Wednesday, including his first double of the season in the ninth inning. Wilson has logged a hit in each of the first seven games of the 2025 season and is slashing .375/.375/.542 with three runs scored, one home run and two RBI.
Brent Rooker
Brent Rooker Belts two-run shot
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 8:21 PM
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Cubs.
Analysis: Rooker drove in both of the Athletics' runs Wednesday when he took Jameson Taillon deep to left field for his second two-run homer in as many games. After going 0-for-4 against the Mariners on Opening Day, Rooker has gone 8-for-26 with five runs scored, three home runs and six RBI in his last six games.
Jacob Wilson
Jacob Wilson Moves up to six spot
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 11:33 AM
Wilson is starting at shortstop and batting sixth in Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Analysis: Wilson has batted ninth in five of seven games for the Athletics this season, but this is now the second time he's been up in the six spot. The 23-year-old is 6-for-20 with one home run and two RBI in his first six contests this season and would receive a minor boost in fantasy if he starts hitting higher in the batting order regularly.
Gio Urshela
Gio Urshela Getting day off
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 11:33 AM
Urshela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Analysis: Urshela will get some rest for the day game after he started in each of the last three games. Luis Urias will check in for Urshela at third base.
Miguel Andujar
Miguel Andujar Absent from Wednesday's lineup
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 11:29 AM
Andujar is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cubs.
Analysis: The Athletics are going with Seth Brown in left field in the series finale. Andujar has now started five of seven games in left field this season and has gone 5-for-18 with one RBI at the dish.
Luis Severino
Luis Severino Hit hard in Tuesday's loss
Wed, Apr 2, 2025, 8:44 AM
Severino (0-1) took the loss to the Cubs on Tuesday, coughing up six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: After an impressive Opening Day debut for the A's, Severino crashed back to earth Tuesday. Three of the six hits against the right-hander went for extra bases, including a three-run blast by Seiya Suzuki in the first inning before Severino had even recorded an out, and a solo shot by the red-hot Kyle Tucker in the third. Severino has given the A's some length, working six innings in each of his first two starts of the year, but he's also issued at least three free passes in each. He'll take a 3.75 ERA and 12:7 K:BB into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Padres.
Jacob Wilson
Jacob Wilson Slugs first career homer
Tue, Apr 1, 2025, 2:18 AM
Wilson went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in an 18-3 loss to the Cubs on Monday.
Analysis: Wilson put the Athletics on the board in the third inning with a solo shot to left field. He added another RBI on a groundout in the fourth in what was then a 5-3 game, but Chicago went on to score the final 13 runs to turn the contest into a rout. Wilson isn't known for his power, and Monday's long ball was the first of his major-league career after he failed to go deep over 103 plate appearances as a rookie last season.
Hogan Harris
Hogan Harris Sent to minors
Mon, Mar 31, 2025, 4:02 PM
The Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Harris was sent to the minors to clear a spot on the 26-man roster for reliever Angel Perdomo, whom the Athletics claimed off waivers from the Angels. After he was unable to win a spot in the Athletics' season-opening rotation during spring training, Harris headed to the bullpen and collected a hold in his lone relief appearance Saturday against the Mariners prior to being demoted. Harris could get stretched back out as a starter with Las Vegas.
Brett Harris
Brett Harris Begins rehab assignment
Mon, Mar 31, 2025, 9:21 AM
Harris (oblique) opened a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base while playing seven innings at third base in a 9-4 loss to Reno.
Analysis: Harris didn't play in any Cactus League games after Feb. 26 due to a left oblique strain that resulted in him opening the season on the 10-day injured list, but after he was recently able to take part in some simulated games at Athletics camp in Arizona, he was given the green light to head out on a rehab assignment. The 26-year-old may need only a few games at Triple-A to prove his health, but since he doesn't appear to have a path to a spot on Athletics' active roster at the moment, Harris could optioned to Las Vegas once he's reinstated from the IL.
Jhonny Pereda
Jhonny Pereda Hitless in first start
Sun, Mar 30, 2025, 11:07 PM
Pereda started at catcher and went 0-for-3 in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Pereda won the backup catcher job behind regular starter Shea Langeliers. However, he may not play as much as a regular backup as Tyler Soderstrom could also make some starts at catcher. Pereda has a good arm behind the plate but struggled with the bat last season (.481 OPS in 40 plate appearances in the majors).
Tyler Soderstrom
Tyler Soderstrom Smacks third homer
Sun, Mar 30, 2025, 6:19 PM
Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Soderstrom continued his red-hot start to the season Sunday, smacking an opposite-field homer off Bryan Woo that would stand as the A's lone run in the game. The 23-year-old Soderstrom now has two hits in three of his first four games to start the year, including a pair of home runs on Opening Day. He's quickly solidified an everyday role, going 7-for-15 with four extra-base hits.
JP Sears
JP Sears Sharp despite loss
Sun, Mar 30, 2025, 6:05 PM
Sears (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Mariners, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out seven over 6.2 innings.
Analysis: Sears was sharp Sunday, blanking Seattle through five innings before giving up a two-run homer to Julio Rodriguez in the sixth. The A's could muster only one run off Bryan Woo, leaving Sears with a hard-luck loss in his season debut. The 29-year-old left-hander was decent in 2024, going 11-13 with a 4.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 137:49 K:BB across 32 starts (180.2 innings). Sears will hope for better luck in his second start, currently scheduled for next week in Colorado.
Shea Langeliers
Shea Langeliers Getting rest Sunday
Sun, Mar 30, 2025, 1:39 PM
Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Jhonny Pereda will pick up a start behind the plate in Langeliers' stead as the Athletics close out their season-opening series with a day game. While starting the first three games of the series, Langeliers went 2-for-11 with a home run, a walk and three RBI.
Max Muncy
Max Muncy On bench Sunday
Sun, Mar 30, 2025, 1:38 PM
Muncy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: The 22-year-old has gone 2-for-12 with a solo homer and four strikeouts in his first three MLB games, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Seattle. Max Schuemann will start at second base and bat ninth in place of Muncy.
Angel Perdomo
Angel Perdomo Finds opportunity in Sacramento
Sun, Mar 30, 2025, 1:33 PM
The Athletics claimed Perdomo off waivers from the Angels on Sunday.
Analysis: Perdomo doesn't have minor-league options remaining, so he'll presumably report to the Athletics in the next day or two and slot into a middle-relief role. The southpaw didn't pitch in 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but with Pittsburgh in 2023, Perdomo made 30 big-league relief appearances and logged a 3.72 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 44:11 K:BB across 29 innings.
